Mite Count Monitoring
Varroa mite management is critical for colony survival. ApiaryPilot helps you track mite counts and alerts you when levels become concerning.
Recording a Mite Count
- Go to Health from the sidebar
- Click Add Mite Count
- Fill in:
- Hive — Select the hive
- Method — Alcohol wash, sugar roll, or sticky board
- Sample size — Number of bees sampled
- Mites per 100 bees — The calculated count
- Notes — Additional observations
Understanding Thresholds
| Mites/100 Bees | Status | Action |
|---|---|---|
| 0–2 | ✅ Low | Monitor normally |
| 3–5 | ⚠️ Moderate | Plan treatment |
| 6+ | 🔴 High | Treat immediately |
You can customize these thresholds in Settings → Preferences.
Mite Count Charts
The Health page shows trend charts for each hive so you can visualize mite levels over time and measure the effectiveness of treatments.
